mastercam x4 to mach3

hey,

I'm in the process of getting cnc software to work before I purchase any hardware.

I use Solidworks(2006) as CAD, Mastercam X4 as Cam and was planning on using Mach3 as controller software. Creating toolpaths is working, but what file-type I have to use to get Mach3 to use the toolpaths I created in Mcm?
After a week of messing about I've given up...

Does anybody have the solution for my problem?

met vriendelijke groeten,

Tim

Try use the default_mill_mm as postprocessor. That should post out a .nc file that mach3 can read.

the default works just fine with mach 3 the only thing you might want to do is edit your home position depending on your machine.

Try post the .nc file for me to look at.

I assume that you are using SW for making the part, and then importing the solid/surface into mastercam X4 for the cam process. Mach 3 should read the post processor "default mill" just fine..

Its the mach3.pst file I think. The default mill is working fine I believe.

RE: MasterCAM X4 with Mach3 on a Syil X3 or X4 machine

Does anyone have inch "MMD", "Control", & "Pst" files for the above combination that they would be willing to share? I am just trying to get started. Really need your help...

I see people asking for Mach 3 posts here all the time. I thought the Mach 3 was 100% fanuc compatible? Well I just went to the Mach 3 web site and found some documentation and it looks like Fanuc to me!

I see no reason why you cant use the Default Mill post or the Mill 3x VMC machine type (VMC = Vertical Machining Center). It's plain Vanilla G-Code.

However if someone wants a custom post for this control, I'm available ($).

Everyone says that MasterCAM is so great, I wanted to give it a try, not that I have so much time that I don't know what to do with it, just looking for an-edge with this machine...

Info:
I have MCX4 for Solidworks, I have tried the Generic posts supplied without success (this was also suggested for me to try on one of the forums), I have downloaded the .pst suggested from Mach3's website (Mastercam_Mach3b), installed as a post for the Generic Machine (though I would think that I also would need the .mmd and .control files), when I try and create a tool path, I get an error message that this .pst is not compatible with your software, run upgrade from C-Hook. When I look for the upgrade program in CHOOK folder, it is not there, and a search of my computer does not find it either. I believe that this package was not supplied with my install.

The versions available from MC for upgrading and adding more machines do not include MCX4 for SW, been there, done that...

Also, the Generic Machine has info that does not pertain to my machine...

As far as the FANUC Machine, this is not one of the choices offered in the list...

I know I am a dumb ass & new with this machine, I know that I am not the only one with a Syil SX4, I see on every forum that I visit, people asking for the same thing.
What I don't understand is; why do we get all these questions (Like; "I don' understand your question?")...

My question was and still is: Does anyone with a 2010 Syil SX4 (Yellow) mill have a 'tested' working copy of the files, (Machine File).mmd, (Control File).control, and (Post Processor).pst, needed for MasterCAM X4 for Solidworks? And are they willing to share these files, to help me get started?

Sorry I still dont get it. You bought Mastercam for SWorks X4 and you didn't get a post? And your dealer cant help you to get the default post working?

So you tried to use the default post, without success. What does "without success" mean. What didn't work? What error did you get?

Here's what it sounds like to me... you have a Beta (i.e., unreleased), bootleg of Mastercam for Solidworks and it's missing files, or the files included are not working because it a beta.

The Post Updater should definitely be there with a factory install of the Mastercam software.
