I am using the sample file that comes with the install 10_SWARF_5AX_MEDICAL.mcx ( located in the C:\mcamx3\mcx\mill\samples\inch\multiaxis\ How does one create the normal lines needed. I've read somewhere that you can use the holeaxis chook. Is it possible of creating it in Mastercam without the chook? I've tried using the point dynamic function but where do I snap it to create the correct line I want ? |

| Simplest method ( manual ) -- Create a cylinder surface from the solid of the actual hole -- untrim the cylinder -- create curves on both ends of the cylinder -- 3D mode on ( bottom toolbar ) -- create points at arc centre of both circles this is the top and bottom of your hole *** you still have to create a line from the top of the hole in the direction you want your drill to approach from ending at the top point *** -- create a line from bottom point to the top point -- xform ( translate ) the line from the bottom point to the top point When selecting the entity use "points and lines" and select the line endpoint closest to the top point ( so that the arrow points in the Z+ direction, up the spindle, from where your tool will approach from ) Hint:- to set a C/T plane, select the circle as the plane and set this plane's origin the same as your WCS origin ( like 3+2 positioning to set the 1st hole vertical -in your operation, for "Planes" [WCS is your setup, and C/T planes is your 1st hole]) Yes, there are chooks that find hole centres and create centre-lines, learn the long way, so all bases are covered if you ever come across a situation where the automatic method won't work Last edited by Superman; 10-16-2009 at 05:49 AM. |

| Or you can see if the parent untrimmed surface is still there by using the option under Screan called un-blank te seletet the surface you want to keep. this does not work with solids but only surfaces.then you can follow what superman stated about edge curves.
