    Mastercam Setup Sheet Help

Can the mill.set file be edited to change the generic gif files to a cad file, or even a modified gif, that will allow me to show a better representation of the actual tool, as well as which point to preset the tool.

The .set files are really .pst files with a different extension. You can do anything with the .set files that you can do with the .pst files. If you give me a sample of what you want, and what you've got so far, I'll see if I can help.

    Matt,
Here is the mill.set file, I don't have much experience with posts, everything I have tried so far has produced errors. I tried to save the setup sheet that Mastercam generates but I can only save the text, not the pictures. I would like to be able to change the picture that appears on the setup sheet by adding a path and file name to the Manufacture's Tool Code line of Define Tool dialog box.

    Thanks,
    Ed

I see what you're looking for. The Mill.set you're using won't do it alone. There ARE several ways of doing it though. There's an HTML setup sheet available from IHS that will do this. (Used to be free, there's a 'trial' you could check out. A free one might still be available.) I made one that uses MS Access. Also, some members of another Forum I visit have made their setup sheets available for free. Let me know if interested.

I would be very interested, anything that could eliminate the paper trail and keep all my setup info in one place would be fantastic.
    Thanks,
    Ed

I'll get some info together for you.

One thing I forgot to tell you, the .set file only produces ASCII (text) based results, but it DOES have the ability, (because in reality, it is it's own programming language), to call external programs, or VBScripts designed in and for Mastercam. This gives you the ability to do virtually anything with it you need to do.
