Tap operation, Post mod, X3 | | Hi
Im running X3 with the X3 mpmaster post variant. I have a Tapmatic head I want to use (the mill in question does not have native tap capability). The Tapmatic has a reverse gear ratio of 1.75:1. So, this leads to my problem- I dont know how to configure a tap operation such that I can tap at some defined rate, and then alter the retract speed to 1.75x the feed rate. So far as I know, the tap/bore cycles only permit feed or rapid as options for the reverse move, so unless I want to set my machine's max Z feedrate for each tap operation, that doesnt seem a good route.
Is there a method in X3 to define an alternate feed rate for the retract move? If not, would someone have some guidance on how to modify the post, such that perhaps a custom cycle could be used? If so, the ideal custom cycle would be- feed as a typical tap cycle, then a rapid retract for 0.5" (to quickly engage the reversing gears in the tap head), then a retract rate of 1.75xfeed to the defined retract position. I dont understand the MC post language well enough to do this myself
Any help is appreciated-
