is it possible to post to older hurco conversational controls?

we have several of these in our shop.some guys are very good and quick at them but im having a hard time getting used to this control.its especially fustrating when i have to draw the parts anyway in mc 9.1 to get all of my points and geometry!it would only take a few more minutes to generate toolpath.

You should be able to change editors from conversational to nc. If you have a floppy drive on the machine you can open them from there into the nc section but the file mask must be changed to .hnc.

Have you found the change editor switch? All Hurco's can change to both..... I had a situation that was similar, all of our big VMC (Fadals,Kitamura's,Haas's) where booked and our Hurco Knee Mills had no or little work. Idea came to mind every part in the shop was programmed in Mastercam except the Hurco's. I looked and found the Hurco post change editor in the machine and from then on the Hurco's were now equal money makers. I was not the cool dude in the shop, man the Hurco guy's really got upset with me but in the eye's of the boss man I just moved the shop in a new direction....

Barry, go into your AUXILIARY mode screen, In there is where you will find the CHANGE EDITOR. You will lose all tools and there offsets, so save the program that will be gone also. The good thing is now you will be running a style of FANUC G-code.

I have a hurco bmc 20 1993 model with ultimax 3 control on it. I use it in both conversational mode, and nc mode using mastercam version 9. Rupert's right, press the auxiliary button and then change editor. You'll need to edit the post processor in mastercam to suit. If you get stuck with error messages, as I did, then post a new question on here. I got loads of good help. System works a treat.

Hurco Post Processor producing file in inches

    Hi everyone,
I have manage to produce a post processed file for a Hurco KMB1 in MastercamX but I think it is in inches as it shows 4 decimal places.
I did set MastercamX to metric in all the boxes.
Do I need to alter something in the post processor file to make it default to mm or am I missing something?
Would be grateful for any help.

Hi I am now using Mastercam X4 but the basic sould be the same... in the main screen top drop down menu's, Mouse over SETTINGS left click, then left click on CONFIGURATION....this is where you can change Mastercam, On the bottom kind of center of the screen Mouse over the down arrow CURRENT and left click on it. You will have the option to choose English or Metric, after you choose this option left click on the green check mark you should then be able to save the new CONFIGURATION.....now repost your mastercam file, program should all be in metric now....
