Hey guys, I was just wondering how to make Mastercam 'remember' the cutter that I have just created. I know I can make a library, but that's not what I'm asking... Everytime I try to create a new tool and I put a new tool number then click ok the tool reverts back to being number 1. And if I already have a number 1 it will go to 2. (then 3,4,5...etc) How do I make it so the tool number I tell it, it is it will remeber? I hope I was clear about the subject.. ![]() Thanks in advance guys... |

| The skinny answer is: you have to make it a library tool. Note the difference, though, from what you were saying. You don't have to create a whole new library, although you could do that. Everytime you get a tool set up you can save that tool to one of the standard libraries w/ Mastercam, and it will retain it's number information for the next time you want to use it.

| What version are you running? as Zak@cws thought is from V9 not Version X to X4.

I know that setting is in the "X" versions as well. I just can't remember exactly where. I thought I was accessing it through the "job setup" when entering tool parameters in an operation. |

| But Zak this ("tool number equals head number") has nothing to do with the issue as inless he is running a multy spindal gantry and the post if configured for this machine this does nothing to the system.

You're right in that this part of my reply isn't really part of his original question and I'm sorry to cause any confusion. |
