| Hey all, I'm making a jig to mount a metal plate inside a lift fan for a hovercraft. The plate has to be perfectly cocentric inside the fan to eliminate wobbles and inbalance. I'm cutting it using an SCM Record 2 router, using MasterCAM X too by the way. Here's the jig. Pretty simple looking part: ![]() I've already cut up some layers of wood for it, about the same shape as the model, just a few cm bigger in diameter. The top piece doesn't have the recess in it yet. That's part of the cut. So, first question. Is there a way I can set the stock to have the same sort of shape around the 3D model, instead of a solid cylinder? Second question, what would be the best tool path to use to create the recess on the top layer? I have to face the top down a bit aswell, but it decides it wants to face the entire stock... |

| The best strategy is to turn it
Yes , draw the actual stock model on another level, and save as STL this then can be used in your stock set-up and also be selected for verify
