stock verify

i have just had a look at a friends MC lathe program.
if he has say 12 opperations in the toolpath group, and you select all from the top, then run verify, it draws the stock blank and then runs the opps on it with graphics.
then if you pick an opp say half way thru, pick verify, the stock changes to show where it would have been machined up to, then continues with the selected commands.
but on my mc mill level 3, if you start from anywhere but the top of opps you just get a solid block, with the cutters crashing thru.
is that just a mc lathe thing, or is there a setting/config that i can change to achieve this?
does this make any sense to you guys?
he was just drawing a simple turned shape, threadding, picking opps, then running, no fancy saves (stl), just to show me, as we are thinking about getting the lathe addon.

Have you set-up the stock in the op. manager, or thru the verify stock dialog ?
If thru the op. manager, in what view are you defining this stock?

Also try running your friends file on your seat, see if you get the same result.

That function only works in Lathe. So if you pick the 5th operation and go to Verify, it will show you the stock cut up to operation 4 and then you can verify the 5th Op.

would it be a handy feature or just candy?
certainly looks good they way it does that
