Hi, I often use custom WCSs (selected by solid face) and put the origin where I want it. However, when spinning the part around on my screen (holding down the mouse wheel button and dragging), I find the part is pivoting around some other point (not my origin) and sometimes it is very confusing and irritating trying to get things oriented the way I want. How can I change the pivot point to a new spot (generally I would want it to be the origin of my current WCS)? Thank you, phoenixMetal |

| I dont have a great solution, but I face the same problem too. What I have found that helps is to keep your custom WCS (and subesequently your geometry) close to the global origin in the file. When you do that things will roll/spin a lot more fluid for you. |

| Right click and use Dynmic Rotation and pick the rotation point. or get a space ball and set the pivit point option.

| You do not have to have you WCS any were the main position that the file came in from. I have up to 20 or more on some parts and different datums for them all and control it. this one thing I am big on teaching in my class's is how to use the WCS and Tplanes easily and fluidly.

| Thanks for your input - the Dynamic rotation does what I want, however that pivot point only stays active for as long as dynamic rotation is set on (until you click the mouse button). I am looking for something that sets the pivot point permanently (well, ideally permanently but different for each WCS). Cadcam, you may have been explaining how to do that in your last post, but I didn't understand what you were saying... Could you explain again? Thanks! |
