Howdy, I'm a relative newbie to the CNC world, a woodworker who recently bought a used Techno router that was running off an old Windows 95 box, loaded with Mastercam 7. Just came across a much newer computer running Windows XP Pro and loaded with Mastercam X3. Tried opening an old file with .mc7 extension and X3 said it was too old. (It would take .mc8 & .mc9) Anyone know how to convert Mastercam Version 7 files to be compatible with X3? |

I wouldn't know, but I assumed it was legit. I'm just trying to convert old files I created or bought to X3 so my technology is relatively current. If the Win95 machine crashes I'm screwed. |

| BTW: Even if you purchased a PC with MC on it, it still isn't Legit. The MC License is not registered to you.

| Ducky did you pay for the software or you just got the computer from a friend and it had it on it. Did you buy the software from the dealer in your area. It sounds like not. and you are So worried about loosing the data of the Pirated copy of MC, Contact your dealer there in Michigan they can help you. Then you will also know were you stand. if this not legit they are not going to arrest you but ask you to remove it and buy a legit Lic.

| You can talk to your Mastercam dealer and get a copy of Mastercam V9 to install. If your system is legit, you should have no problem installing V9. Then update your MC7 files to MC9, and then from Mc9 to MCX (X3). Mike Mattera
