Anyone out there programming a horizontal boring mill with fanuc control? I've used X3 for programming 3 axis vmc and 4 axis boring mill. I need to program a hbm that has a W axis (spindle extension). How do I setup a machine/control definition for this type of machine so mastercam will recognize another axis as well as another G43 offset for the w axis. any help would be appreciated. |

| I tried adding a linear axis in the machine definition manager and designating it as the W axis. That worked OK, but I am not sure how you would differentiate between Z axis moves (table in and out) and W axis moves (spindle in and out) Try posting up on emastercam somebody there may have already figured this out |

| I tried doing that as well, but like you said, it really doesn't know the difference between the two axis. I ended up making up an .mmd for a horizontal mill and modifying one of the posts that I already use. This does the job for now and it takes me a few minutes to change some values from z to w. I will look some more into this and try the other forum as well. Thank you for your help degmc. |
