Creating a drawing in mastercam 9.0

Hey everyone. I would like to know if you can create a drawing in 9.0? I need details of a part (and print it out) and it will have to be on a couple of sheets and could I also create a boarder around it and make a title box of it as well with all my info in it? Thanks.

Yes and no. You can draw the part. You can dimension it. You can make the border and a title box with your info. I've never tried using Mastercam for making prints other than a basic drawing to make my life a bit easier when manually making a part. I was only concerned with the actual dimensions, nothing else.

I don't think it is possible to print it out on two sheets without making two separate drawings and saving them in separate files. I am assuming the part is large enough (or has enough features) to require 2 sheets in order to sufficiently make out all the details. Also be aware that the XYZ directional lines in the lower left corner of the monitor will also print out. Never before gave a thought to seeing if these axis lines could be eliminated from the view.

I'd be interested how you make out. Thanks.

EDIT: Normally you put the dimensions on a different layer than the part itself. That way you can hide them so the part can be perused easier. Also makes it easier when driving tools. Nothing says you have to, tho.

You can do a Plot and pick the area to plot. It can be plotted at any scale.

If your looking for V9 Design training....
http://www.tipsforcadcam.com/product/TFM-CDD1V8V9

It doesn't cover plotting, But has some great design technique's.

Yes, those "axis lines" can be turned off, as well as the origin lines
and also the scale line --- Try F9 and Alt-F9

Ok i had sometime today to play with the mastercam and i found what i wanted. It is under soild-next menu-layout. Gives me the top, front and side view and you can section the part and detail it. Gave me a title block and everything. Granted i have to have the part in soild, no biggie. But the title block is blank and i would like to set it up so i have the customers name and part name and everything filled out. Does anyone know how i can do that or do i have to do it everytime with notes?

I have to design a gas cap and the the threads are going to be the hardest part (I think). It will be a special pitch and design/shape, i hope i can do it. Just worried about the start and end of the thread. Need it to blend into the cap. I guess i will see what i can do. I will keep you posted and see if i can get some pictures of the final product.

Title Blocks

Try here for starters
C:\Mcam9\Design\MC9\Samples\Title Blocks
select the closest and modify to suit

remember to keep your part at 1:1 scale
your title block can be any scale when you "merge"
also select a vacant layer to place your title block

Just had a look at those drawing sheets, they're drawn all on one layer.
You may wish to put a bit of time into it and set 2 files up to suit A3 and A4
the border to one layer, permanent feild desciptions, Company emblem on another, notes and infills, DWG #, etc. on another, it can simply be turned on and off . Make the layers range from 210 to 220 for example, so they don't clash with any part data ,fixtures, tools, etc.

In the infill areas put a "-" or something similar ,makes life easy if size and position is preset when you modify the text.
