    need help with 3D contour

    Hi all,

    This one has me stumped.

Have a curve in the XZ plane, which needs to be cut into material using the tool dia offset, via a series of z depth cuts.

Can't get the appropriate tool offset to work using 3d contour.

Can someone shed some light on this?

    Thanks

    dave

You have the comp set for computer.
    Try wear or control comp.
(Wear is delta between actual tool rad and programmed rad --control is measured tool rad entered in control) .
If your control is set for dia comp (wear is delta between actual tool dia and programmed dia) ditto ditto ditto.

Assuming your machine is capable of 3-d cutter comp. If not you will most likely get an alarm turning on comp in g18 or g19 plane.

Ahh yes the correct toolplane helps too. You must have posted while I was typing. Your comp is still turned off though.

thanks for the suggestions MCG.. our control isn't capable of cutter comp, so I always use mcams computer setting, then verify about a dozen times to make sure the path is correct
