all the help will be very much appreciated

If you know the basics of programming its going to be alright, the only thing that changes for the most part from machine to machine is the control layout. Haas in particular have their own operating system as does Daewoo Pumas or at least the one's I've worked on. All the same the codes will be similar in the sense they will either emulate a fanuc or a yasnac programming approach. In other words don't sweat the details and tell your new boss, its going to take you a couple of weeks to get familiar with the new machine controls and you should be on your way to making chips.
Ps: out of curiosity if you are programing will you be using a cam software ? also will you be actually working on the machine or just doing the programming ?
Are you programming by hand or using the conversational program form Haas ?
