I'm running MasterCamX on a 2 year old T41 Thinkpad with 1.6 Ghz & 1 Gig of RAM. It runs very smoothly.
Hope this helped,

I took a look at the website for miniimum system requirements for Mastercam.
"1.5 GHz 32-bit Intel®-compatible processor. 64-bit Intel®-compatible processors are supported"
I am leaning towards Windows Vista
I was wondering what the experience of forum users with AMD, Centrino, Celeron etc
Is there anythinng I should definatelly stay away from?

stay away from Celeron as they are low of the math processor for Mastercam. the other in most cases will do. but make sure to look at video as I say to stay away from integrated video. you want separate video. I suggest not using Vista unless you are running MCX2 mr2 or higher.X3 runs better in vista then X2 mr2.
