Swept 2d Contour

Guys,

I have to admit, that I never attended any sort of formal CNC Programming courses. I learned it totally by field experience. I'm currently using Mastercam 9 and Mpfan as my main post processor.

I do OK with simple contour like linear, pocket, slot and island. My only problem for the moment is dealing with swept 2d contour. I don't even know where to start. I really needed help on this and I hope every good people here could help me. I really appreciate it, if you guys could give me any advice on this.

If there any links available regarding this matter I really hope you guys could forward it to my email at davesarawak@gmail.com

I wish that I have reply on this soon. Sincerely from my heart, I thank you all.

generally to create a swept surface you need to have 2 across chains-chains that are parrallel to each other and a along chain-a chain that intersects the across chains.

for some reason i am having a hard time using your geometry to create a swept surface (could very well be me as i am new to surfaces in general)

hope some of this is useful.

ps to create a ruled surface go to create-surface-ruled/lofted-select 2 chains going in the same direction and hit enter.

will be good enough to get smooth surface toolpath.

is it possible to have a roughing and finishing pass in the Swept 2D? i need to make a part that looks like a Half Pipe skateboard ramp. i can get it to go along the arc but i can't get it to rough it. the tool just wants to take it in one pass it looks like on the simulator. thanks for any input

i just got off the phone with mastercam and they said i can't do it with the level of software i have. i only have 2d capabilities. they said the swept 2d is only a finishing tool path. so i guess i'll either have to offset it or make a series of pockets to rough it out. if anyone has a better idea other than buying the next software package let me know. thanks
