saving files with a DWG or DXF

is there any secret saving files with a different extension, like DWG and DXF?

I'm saving a file as .DWG and another one as .DXF but when I try to open them with Autocad,
I get a message saying
Failed to open, Unsupported drawing format.

Depends what version of Mastercam you are using......and what version of Autocad you have. You should be able to open an Autocad R12.dxf file in Autocad 2008. Check the formats that are available for opening .dxf files in Autocad.

hum! I tried so many ways and nothing yet but I'll figure it out...
I got mastercam X2 MR2 and autocad 15 that I pick autocad 2004/2006 in the option menu....

Try a .dxf format.
Just a question, but why are you going from Mastercam to AutoCad?
MasterCam is (for me) CAM software, and I rarely if ever add or modify any geometry with this software.

I already tried .DXF....
this may be a network problem as-well.. tomorrow I'll dig into it again...

about the why...

the thing is, I designed a 2D special tool that needs to be cut through with a plasma or water-jet machine.... in order for me to do that I need to convert the file into autocad format, this way the guy at the other side can open it and program his machine...

thats what they asked me..... and I think thats only way because pronest and flow are not compatible with mastercam.... right?
actually flow is I think... but probably he is going to use pronest....

file-converters-autodesk-write file-save-choose which acad to save-ok.
This should then open in AutoCad (you may have to go to view-zoom all,for it to show up on screen)

Hi:
I can fix alot of things, but I cannot (and will not) fix things that are stupid.
For example: I would not design, repair or manufacture parts for a machine that puts tiny little holes into new condoms.
