I can't find any NPT taps in the Mastercam tool library. Any help would be great. I was thinking I could just make ny own tool, but don't know the parameters for setting the depth, feeds and speeds for NPT taps. Thanks. |

| And you won't because it's not there. You will have to create your own tool and the feeds and speeds too. |

| Hmm, don't know if I'd bother to machine tap NPT threads, as I've yet to see a spiral point NPT tap.The torque required to drive the tap in would be pretty high. I'd venture a guess that most people would thread mill that kind of a profile (provided the control can do it). This would give you exact control of the number of turns (3-1/2 typ.) until a wrench is required. regards

| I was able to find the feeds and speeds for the npt taps. I made a new tool in the tool manager and going to try it out today. I do realize that it does take alot of torque to use the taps, but I have done it before on this machine and it has done it well, as long as you don't go too deep. Thanks for the help. I will let you know if it works and post the information. |

| I run a makino 1210 maching center, and havent yet hand tapped a npt threaded hole. never had a problem with the 3-1/2 turn either. cimco feed and speed calculator works pretty good to calculate ur speeds and feeds, you can dowload it free from the cimco website. |
