Hello, Can anyone tell me step by step how to update a imported solid in Mastercam X mr2 and retain the tool paths? I usually import IGES or Sat created from Solid Edge, Solidworks or Solid Designer and want to import the updated solid with recreating all the tool paths. Is this even possible? Thanks, |

| Yes, it's possible. Sometimes it's worth it. Sometimes it isn't. What you'll have to do is delete the old geometry first. It'll give you all kinds of warnings about the toolpath being associated with the geometry and it will fight you to not do it. Do it anyway. Then use File Merge/Pattern to import the new geometry. With the new geometry in the model. it's now a matter of going into each operation, clicking on the Geometry icon, deleting the old geometry associations, and reattaching the new ones on the solid. Yes, it's painful and tedious but it's possible. I'm not much of a 'layers' guy but you might also be able to load the old solid to one layer (without deleting) and the newly imported geometry to another layer. In that scenario, you would just reassociate the changed geometry with the updated solid and the existing stuff could stay attached to the other solid. That could save you some steps.

| Wow, if you are using SolidWorks already, then I'd recommend you jump to the version of MasterCam as an add-in to SolidWorks. You will have full associativity (2D and 3D) to the model....changing the part will change the toolpath (if you want it to ). I've heard rumours that it will be out soon....if not already regards

| Cam1 this tool has not come out yet we are hoping to go to beta in the next few weeks. Also this will be an add-in for solid works. if you are an existing Mastercam customer. yours will not work inside SW.

| Just a thought. do not delete the old geo first ,but merge the new geo to a new level. becuase some time this helps you align the new model in the location of the old model. then you you turn of the old model that you have on its own level. and just go to the ops and unselect geo and reselect the new. To make it easer you will need to update your mastercam.
