the machining operation that created the tool path when you have many machining operations in the Operation Manager?

If I could directly click on the back plotted tool path wire frame and it would highlight the machining operation that created it in the Operation Manager that would really help me out. For some reason unknown to me you can't do this.

I've tried Analyze/Database Number-Analyze Database/ selecting the entity/then clicking on the Toolpaths button. This does not seem to work on Transformed Toolpath. It also doesn't seem to work on a drilled tool path unless you create points.

If I'm working with a Mastercam file that I didn't create or if I have many tool paths, not being able to easily see what created the tool path makes things very difficult for me.

Does anyone have any suggestions or workarounds for this?

Has anyone suggested to the Mastercam people that they improve this?

Sorry to say, but if someone put everything on one level which is what this sounds like, then yes it can be a pain to sort all of this out. I would recommend back plotting each operation then saving the geometry to a level as you do this. I will help you sort out what is doing what and what did what. Then you can track things down a lot easier than what you are trying now.

I am sorry you are having problems on the other forum run by a Mastercam reseller. Perhaps one day a Mastercam user will start a forum for Mastercam users where you do not have to worry about saying something that effects a resellers income or offends advertisers. In the mean time I prefer this forum over that one. I do not think you will be banned there. If you are and you start your own forum it would severely stain the already questionable credibility of that forum. Of course that is just my opinion and I doubt most others would agree with it.

I think it's good to have independent forums. Although I like the people at emastercam and dont have any problems there, I'm glad CNCZone is here. It's a good place to surf for info on multiple systems and general CNC stuff.

Nope Mastercam User problem was with this forum, but it has got cleared up. The other forum is great and a lot more Mastercam users than over here. I have over 7400 postings over there. I have been banned 2 times over here. I have this problem of telling ti like it is and some people have a problem that.

Here is a tip that I got from over there I ill share from Mike T over there:

Analyze-Analyze/database-click on geo, select toolpaths box and it will put a green mark on each op that is tied to that geo. Love this feature.

I think this will be very usefully for what you are doing.

There lower row of icons in the OP manager, the 2nd last one will show you the geometry that is associated with the operations and you pick through them.

Maybe being able to graphically edit your tool paths is something else you should suggest to them as well.

Okay, I tried this. I notice I have to hit Alt-T several times because it seems to get easily confused. Still it's the best work around so far. Thanks.

Sorry to hear you have been banned two times here. Keep telling it like it is. Only way to go. I did read Mike T's post over there but it does not work on Transformed tool paths or on drill tool path that does not use use a point. I use transformed tool paths all the time as it is what Mike Mattera teaches for rotary pallet work and most of the files I create or work with don't have points for drilling.

Perhaps one day you will start your own forum. It would be a good way to let more people know what you offer. Also a good way to let those who buy your videos discuss what is on your videos and make suggestions for future videos. Those who can teach seem to develop a very loyal following from users who have benefited.
