3d help for a new guy

I am new to all of this cad/cam stuff. I can do 2d stuff fine.

I am using Rhino to draw my parts and converting into Mastercam 7.2.

the problem is when I do 3d stuff, I am lost.

I have been trying to do a simple half of a ball. In rhino it was a wire frame. I changed it to a mesh.

Now I am trying to figure out what to save it as so the Mastercam 7.2 can convert it.

then I will try to figure out how to do the toolpaths.

Anyone care to give me a few pointers? It would be very appreciated.

    Thank you,

Well 7.2 is 10 years old now. and if you are saving a mesh this will not due you need surface data out.

    Do you have any recommendations?

I am using Rhino for CAD. Even when you draw a solid, it gives you a wire frame.

Well heres a question do you know the diffrence between surfaces and wire. asif I turn off shading in MC it looks like I have a wire mesh ,but i really have a surface shown as a mesh.

So can you create something and output as a Iges and i will check it's contents.
I do not have MC7 on any of my computers any more. but i do have back to V9.

    Steve

That is great. Thank you so much for showing me. Now I understand. I need to follow that video for a few times to learn. Then try to manipulate the part and see if I can figure it out.

This gives me a good starting point.

You sure make it easy to understand.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Most interesting video clip. Are there similar clips on your webpage but with a newer version, like X ? I assume the concept is the same.
