Controlling How Parts Get Machined

Just beginning to get an idea of how Transform Toolpath works. The way I finally got what I wanted was to do all the tool pathing for my part. I then created a new Toolpath group and used Transform Toolpath on each of the original operations. When I am done I only post the Transformed Toolpath machining operations. I would love to see a video done on the best ways to use Transform Toolpath as it seems like there are a lot of choices to make and different situations of where and how Transform Toolpath can be used. Not sure if I did this right. I am sure that I have a headache after spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to use Transform Toolpath. Glad I had Mike Matteras Rotary and Contour Video to refer to but not sure if he covered the Transform Toolpath function in enough detail.

as you should know not all can be covered on these videos, trial and error and posting reposting is the best way to learn. IMO, I believe for all of us here that started when there were no books videos or forums, this is how we learned I do not remember even classes any help at all. Don't get me wrong the videos are great and I wish I had this available when I learned, but the time to make these is very very time consuming. I personally focus on basics when I make videos the rest should come from the user. I just started a new Surface & Solids creation for x2 video two weeks ago and it will take 3 discs maybe to complete all I have in mind from a real world perspective basic surface advaced surfacing and basis solids with surfaces.
Just keep asking questions but be ready to trial a error yourself it will stick for life if you do it and not get the answer from somebody else. Trnsform toolpath does so many different thing it can be a whole video cd in itself . send your part I will see if I can give any insite

but as for the transform. make sure its by "Oparation Order and define the proper plane for it to rotate about and it will bring the tool out once and rotate to each plane then on to the next op.

It is one way to learn. I like a balanced approach to learning.

When you started the Chinese did not present the kinds or problems that they do for manufacturers today.

It is my opinion that the more videos you make the better and faster you will get at making them. I think that if asked Mike Mattera would say that he has gotten a lot better and faster at making video tutorials then when he first started.

I like to ask questions. Seems to work best for me when I have someone like CrazyThunder who wants to make someone like me think about his non-standard methods and is willing to be patient and explain them.

That means plenty of opportunity for lots of people to share or sell their techniques. It means if you have an open mind to learn that there is plenty to discuss. For me this sure beats discussing religion, politics or machine shop owners who think Camworks is the answer.

I will post my completed part that I put on a tombstone and used Transform Operation on so that hopefully you, cadcam and CrazyThunder can find areas that can be improved or different methods for me to use. I have questions on the best way to verify parts on a tombstone. I now have a problem using Verify. The part being verified does not get enough light and I do not know why or how to fix this. Also, I wonder if when I use Transform Operation if there is a way to make the part associative to the original part toolpath or if this happens automatically? I tried editing a transformed toolpath and it did not work. Not sure why.

I should stop deleting the original operations then! Since this is the case you do not- cannot edit the transformed operation if you want to make a change but rather have to edit the original machining operation?

That is what the little ghost is for at the top of the operation manager, click the original and turn posting off. if you want to change someting you can unghost and re do the transform toolpath.
