Thanks for letting me know, Jay. I really appreciate all your and crazythunders efforts. Upgrading is not my decision. If it were my decision I would upgrade. We are not on maintenance. What the boss really wants to do is switch to Camworks. The shop where the boss use to work switched from Mastercam V9 to Camworks and he wants to hire their head guy to work for us. Their head guy loves Camworks.

Yes, I looked at your G code and it has the proper B axis rotation. Not sure why I had a problem with your file. Since I can make mine work by creating the proper toolplanes and leaving the WCS alone I have moved on to other things I am having more pressing problems with.

If the top of stock is say 3 inches and all of the cuts are at different depths you can set top of stock to absolute of 3" and then the operation will only do the depth of cuts that are need to each correct depth. Most people never think to use Mastercam this way and will have 10 different operations for each depth when one would do it all if planned and thought out that way.

Again just trying to spread the wealth.
I do not understand what you mean. Any chance of posting a picture or screen shot? If not I will keep reading what you wrote and hopefully it will sink it.

See new post I started about how to control tool cutting order.

The way I see it, Camworks is for people who like to build databases and who enjoy spending their time trying to store their knowledge. I have no interest in spending my time teaching a cam system anything. I would rather have a cam system that lets me do what I want when I want.

I renamed the post from How To Control Tool Cutting Order to Transform Toolpath after making some progress last night on what I wanted to do.

ok cant find this post. but as for the transform. make sure its by "Oparation Order and define the proper plane for it to rotate about and it will bring the tool out once and rotate to each plane then on to the next op.

Renaming the thread does not stick so I changed the content of Controling How Parts Get Machined. You might have to hit refresh once you click on Controling How Parts Get Machined to see the new edited content.

Well see if this makes some sense. I went to front view and drew this stair case. I then did the contour toolpath with what you see on the screen. I picked the bottom stair and went up the stairs. I got 12 cuts for the 1st steps and I got 10 for the next and so forth. I have the file here, but it is X2Mr2 for the toolpath, and the V9 one is just the solid in the zip file for those who do not have the latest version. Do the toolpath like I show then do a verify and I think you will see what I was talking about.

I hope this help and give some ideas.

Perhaps the key for me to understanding your method is to see what it is like to try and program these stairs not using your approach.
