Hey everyone, So i'm completely self-taught with mastercam and from time to time i realize there are some basics i haven't learned. I have mastercam x and normally after i post something i have to manually insert some comment lines at the top of the program explaining how to set it up. That has some issues, the biggest of which is that once the .nc file leaves my office, i have no idea what that note was, and that if i want to post the code again i need to open the old .nc file and copy the notes... Is there a way to save notes directly in the mastercam file, and have them automatically post with the .nc file somewhere at the top? I was gonna ask this in the post processor area but it seems to me like it would be more of a settings thing. Thanks, -Taylor |

| There's lots of ways to do this. You could use canned text, you could use prompts in the post. You can use the Properties dialog, but (at least with ver 9x), that sometimes lost data for me.

| So looking at canned text, i see some issues: I don't see a way to attach canned text to the entire machine group, so i'd have to put it in front of the first operation, and then remember not to delete that operation or move it without getting the text. It also looks like canned text is very limited in what you can say - i really need just a big text box i can write instructions in. As far as the properties dialog, what specifically do you mean? I found that under Machine Group 1 - Properties - Files tab, i can leave a group comment, and that will show up the post-processor, but it's so freaking limited it hurts.... you can't even enter multiple lines in that box! Is there a way to enter multiple lines into a box and have those both save to the MCX file and show up in the post? Thanks, -Taylor |

| right click on your tool path select lathe or mill toolpath and select manual entry type your text in the box and MC creates that as an operation which you can then move around or edit later and it stays with your file. the post will send the text as man readable notes in your program
