Question MasterCAM X2 Router multi head drilling possible?

    Hi,

we are using a Biesse Rover Router and already got the right post for it. Our problem is that however we set up the machine in the machine definiton setup it is not using more than one of our 15 drilling heads.
It is only uses one head and changes the tool for it for every hole with a different diameter.
How and where do we have to set it up, that MC is recognizing the multi heads of our machine??

    Thanks very much,

    Eiko

    What does your Dealer say?

This is probably your best resource when it comes to these types of problems. I think it is probably going to be in your control definition. Are you using the aggerate head chook?

It is really strange! If we changethe number of spindles in the machine definition manager it doesn't have any influence to the tool path...and we also tried different setup possibilities at the control definitions.
What kind of possibilities do we have with the aggerate head chook and how can i start it?

It certainly sounds like you are describing a 15 spindle drill block which would be supported by properly defining the block in the machine definition and then applying a block drill tool path. However, all of that is a moot point if the post processor is not written to support the block drill information.

The good news is that there are Biesse posts readily available to your local reseller which have the proper machine and control definitions to support block drills, mutiple heads and other features such as aggregates in the Biesse routers. They should also be able to provide you with instruction on proper job set up and toolpath creation techniques.

Then again, if you are running a cracked version of Mastercam you are most likely S.O.L. unless someone else has a cracked version and has gotten ahold of a proper post and it's associated files.

    Hi,

thank you very much! By the way we are not runing a cracked version of MasterCAM.
We as well got a post of our reseller for the Biesse Skipper machine which should support our Biesse Rover 22. But we would like to try to understand the program in a proper way.
We setted up the drill Block and it works. Is it possible to set up the tool path in automatic way... for example in the solid drill method for a drill block or needs it to be done manually for each depth?

    Thank you very much,
    Eiko

Which control is on your Biesse (NC500, NC1000, BiesseWorks)? There are several things that could cause what you are experiencing ( If I understand what you are experiencing?) Are you attempting to line bore shelf holes and get mutiple spindle drops? If so, in all of the above controls the groups fields in the machine data could be prohibiting how the boring unti responds regardless of the code. In the NC500 control, the post must be configured in a specific manner because the control reoptimizes optimized drilling every time the program is selected. There are several other things which influence this. Email me at ntek1@aol.com or through www.cnccustomservices.com if you have any questions.
    Best of Luck!
