looks awsome but whats with all the cnc videos having over the top techno mixes in the background? haha Sometimes the roar of a router for 5 minutes isn't a bad thing. But really though I like the guitar.

Hey all,
I just wanted to show you my first guitar being machined, on my solsylva router after being designed in Solidworks, and machined with Mastercam.
THanks all for all the past help, I am finaly doing it!!
:-)
What do ya think?

"you don't even need cnc if your handy with a torch"
Cyborg,
Cool video, are you making them for yourself?

Yes...
I am building one for each one of my kids, and then I will build one for my self. Most of the designs are already done in solidworks.
I am working on my third, and I decided to do a couple of things:
a: Use a figured wood top (Have spalted maple)
b: Integrate a USB port in the guitar.
I have a USB guitar interface, which I will carve the back out, and embed in the guitar. THis way, all you need to do is to connect it to a computer, and off you go....
nice nice work ,and by the way its avery awsome video
Warlock !!
nice work thats the style I'm planning to build hopefully in the near future
any chance of you posting the mastercam file
Very Impressive!
I can't believe the quality cuts, your getting with the solsylva router!
How long did it take to cut the guitar, in the video?
.
I did the cut in phases. In other words, I cut the front first, then back etc. and made sure I drilled the holes for the electronics. That probably took me about 1.5 hours.
Using the holes, I was now able to flip the guitar over, and orient it again, since I used the holes as reference points for the router. I was amazed by how "spot on" the referencing was, since I was worried about the 45 degree profiles being off.
So overall, I would say about 3 hours or so of machining time. The body is solid honduran mahogany. It machined extremely well. I was really amazed by how nice mahogany cuts under the router.
And oh yes, the Solsylva machine really works, as you can see. I had surfaced my table to make sure it is flat. I am getting 35 IPM rapids (30 on the z), and I usually cut at about 25-30 IPM. Using the Xylotex board, with the Xylo drives and motors.
As far as making the models available, I will soon have a site up, and I will offer COMPLETE video tutorials of the Solidworks design work, and the mastercam machining, along with 3 different guitar designs.
THanks all for your comments! I really learned how to do all this from hanging around this forum, and following the advice of many individuals here.
Great looking Guitar and what I really want to know is what is the music on Utube.

Great work - what about the neck ?
Drakkn Custom Shop http://www.cbgyorkshire.co.uk
The neck is modeled in Solidworks, but I have not yet begun to machine it. That will be another story, I am sure, as I will have to devise a fixture for the angle, so that I do not wind up wasting lots of wood.
The music on the video is a secret....lol!!
