Hi,
I'm new mastercam mill programmer. I can do in 2D well.
I would like to study in 3D and more. I don't know what book to buy.
I search on internet this book
Mastercam X Mill & Solids $99.00 Dr. S.C. Jonathon Lin Dr. Tony F. Shay
1886552207. 3D surface modeling and machining
Thorough coverage of part geometry creation, tool path generation, tooling, and planning
Is this a good book or not?
Please suggest some.

Yes that book is a good one, there are some inaccurate things in it, but if you read it cover to cover.......you will be amazed at your ability. I didn't have the X book, but I think I had the one for Mill 7.

Good Luck,
Frank

Yes, I find help in every book I buy. Not one book covers all. Experience is the best teacher. If you can find a class for Mastercam you should take it. I took 4 semesters of McamX and Even then I have questions.
good luck
JC

The books alright, the best thing as said before is experience. Once you learn the basic geometry creation and toolpath application just play with whatever crazy scenario pops into your head

The book is good if you have time to go though it I think My first lin & shue was v-6 I learned very much but over time there are some good training video
you may pick up more detail on but the book is good not much real detail.

better than book

all the books I have looked at are pretty confusing, better for reference. Try

https://www.streamingteacher.com

after watching thier online videos you will know the program.

Rich05,

Think that on-line course was worth the money ? I'm looking for a jump start with x2 myself.

i think so, it is much easier to learn watching it first hand. the commentary is very good. the course is extensive. you get 90 days to watch all the lessons.

Streaming teacher isn't the only video training available, Check out all your options. There is a good option at the top of this screen tips for manufacturing. One time charge and keep the cd, or check the site below.
