My company is looking into purchasing MasterCam Art for X2. Does anyone have experience with art? Is this product as easy as the rest of MasterCam to use?
Any and all input is welcomed and wanted.
Thanks

I would defantly look at it. but I know that I sell the product but I have had no complants from my customers I also use it for programming stuff for my customers.
I suggest you get a demo from your local dealer and see how you fell then. Also ask about the special going on till end of May.

Interesting Poll. It's either "Total Junk" or "Really Awesome". Seems like there might be something in-between. Because "I'm sitting on the fence" is not a rating of the product. It's a statement of the persons inability to make a decision.
Here's what I think.....
For some things it's Total Junk. For other parts it Really Awesome.![]()

You should get a 30 day trial and check it out. I'm sure your dealer will do that for you.

Mike you are right that the poll is cut and dry. My upper management is not really interested in a trial. They will either get it on not.
Very strange on how they do things. The sitting onthe fence is looking for an opion that, like you, have no stong pro's or con's.
Thanks for your input, hey at least you replied.
What did you not like about Art and what did you like. I am interested now.

Lat time I played with Art was V9. Actually I liked it. Had a few stability problems. But for the most part worked OK for what it was intended to do. Everyone that see's it, wants it. But not everyone needs it. It's ability to create natural flowing shapes, without surface/solid modeling, is very cool. I understand they lowered the price. More people will at least consider it now.
What do you plan on using it for?

At least when you set on the fence you can jump from side to side depending on the job application. Been on both sides. I like art, but it's still $$$

I just went for it at the May price. If it is successful, we'll will see the results on our custom products soon, and if not, well...
It was hard to figure out (and still not sure) how crippled (if at all) Art is when used with Mill entry version. In any case the $4000 extra is safe in case we need it.
For the amount of money they charge for Mastercam and also Solidworks, it had better be more than junkWill share after I know something.
Still getting the Marposs probe in the Mini Mill set up.

Go with Art Cam-- more features and great support--if you got it from your Mastercam distributor you should be able to get Artcam too!!!
Silverfoxx3, how do you figure Art cam has more features as I am curious?
In addition, I am sorry to inform you that most Mastercam dealers do not sell Art Cam as we have Mastercam Art. I do not think any of the dealers sell it at all truthfully.

I don't care so much who sells it, but I'd like to know what the features are, and the prices. I need Mastercam anyway, even if it is the basic version, so the
What does the SW do that Mastercam Art X does not? What environment does it run from, and why do you like it? I'm very interested and eager to know more abou it and "art" cam SW in general.

Well, in our market here in Michigan, the supplier has both Mastercam and Artcam. We have been using Artcam and it seems to work really well. I know another person who has used MC art and he informed me it was a little tough to get thru--Maybe he didnt know all of the features.
Forgive me for putting any info out there that is incorrect, this is just from my experience and that is what I though these forums were about.
go to www.axsysinc.com for more info on both of the programs
Got to the products link on Delcam and it will give you dropdowns to direct you to Artcam products
