How many radiall passes are you making if you have more then the tool can do will give you that same error.
I am new to live tooling on lathe, but I have learned a lot in a couple of weeks. But this key way is making me pull my hair out.
Here is my situation. I am trying to cut this 3/8 wide key way down the length of the shaft.
Toolpath - Caxis cross contour
Planes - all set to (top)
Chain - created a curve from the solid at the bottom of the key way. It will only select the full chain if set to 3d.
Tools - 1/4 4flt rough and 1/4 flt finish
Parameters:
Compensation Type - wear
Comp. direction - Left
Contour type - 2d
DOC - .040
Lead in /out - Entry and exit-tangent, .025 line, .025 arc Djust start and end contour, extend .2
Linking parameters - everything is set to incremental. Depth=.000, TOS= .25, Feed plane=0.1, Retract=.25, Clearance=.5
Arc filter - set to .001 filtering and smoothing checked
Planes - WCS=Top, Tool plane = Cross upper left (Top), Comp/Construction plane=Cross upper left (Top)
Axis control - Rotation Type = Y axis
Warnings I get when trying to create tool path
1.Cutter comp not successful
2.ERROR - error regenerating Operation - Caxis Cross Contour.
Can someone please help me out with this? The worst part about it is, Ive already written a program pretty much identical to this part, and now I cant seem to figure it out.
