    Default Surface toolpath help

    Just a lathe guy here trying to figure out what surface toolpath to use for a .150 fillet around the top edge of this part. Thanks

    One option is to use if flowline surface finish.

    Flowline will work. Contour will work and you can adjust the shallow area to add a few extra cuts for a more efficient cut strategy. But the thing that would work the best is a radius bit! Do you have to use a ball nose cutter on this thing? Use a 2d contour path with a 0.15" radius bit. You can adjust your depth cuts and your width of cut using multipasses to taste.

    Well you can search and yes toy can find .15 radii bit but most tool places don't carry them on the shelf. but all also his walls are not vertical but tapperd. now that I look at this again. if he has the multiaxis add on I would use Morph 5 axis with a lollipop tool. Oh and set it for 3axis output.
