Default Guitar CAD Design in MasterCam

I'm working on a neck through design for a customer and can't seem to get a smooth heel transition area. I'm wondering if it's possible in MasterCam, or if I need to use a free-form surface modeler like Rhino?

These are approximately what I'm looking to end up with:

Has anyone attempted this? This is what I'm starting with:

My CAD should be attached to the post. If anyone has the time or any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it.

    Erik

Freeform surfaces are fairly difficult to model in Mcam and have them appear 'correct'
Your model has the 'body' extending too far into the 'neck'.
I suggest breaking the surface into a few more pieces.
Using the red guitar as an example, make a curve that follows the sharp edge, then one for the existing neck edge, then add several arcs for the 'flair' area.
You should be able to make a lofted surface out of the arcs or a Coons patch surface out of the edges (rails) if you split the body and neck curves into the same number of pieces.
A Coons patch requires 4 'rails' to make a patch and should be fairly 'rectangular'.
You can find the Coons patch C-Hook under ALT-C

Also, rather than just sending the Mcam file, please add several other formats like STP, X_T, X_B or SAT in older versions so those with older software can read your model.
This would be really EASY to do in a REAL cad system like SolidWorks or ProE.

Pro Tip: Always do filleting from the larger radii to the smaller.

P.S. Mcam was NEVER designed to be a CAD system.

MasterCam since V6.12a. Gcode since 1983.

Eric, if I'm not mistaken that looks to be a Carvin guitar. They use cnc machines to make them. If you contact them they may be kind to you and send you a file. That's the quickest most direct route I know of.
Carvin builds high quality guitars. Give 'em a call.
Sure wish I could have helped, but I have an older version of mc. Send an iges file next time.

That's a long process in Mastercam. You're going to have to break your transitions in to break the blends in to surface lofts driven with lots of wire frame construction. In my experience with MC it is just not much of a design package. I would do it in Rhino.

For what it's worth, did this today in mc. The dreaded transition area. It ain't perfect but it sure does leave some room for the rasp, scraper, and sandpaper.

Put one large chamfer on the body and you're half way there roughing the part out.

The image edit is quick and dirty.
