was wondering if mastercam x has a function to easily design copper electrodes......such as version 9 had the quickpart funtion for engraving

I make a lot of electrodes. I have Moldplus available but instead I normally use Mastercam's solid tools (esp. boolean and trim functions) and manually create my electrodes. Occasionally I use Topsolid to save time or take advantage of features that Mastercam does not have.

When we first got Moldplus I tried using it for our electrodes but I found it to cause too much chaos in our shop. Manually creating 'trodes allows me to lay things out in a less confusing way for our operators.

So the answer to your question is no. Mastercam does not have an electrode function but the moldplus add-on may be of interest to you.

If you work with surfaces, MoldPlus is the way to go. It's the Swiss Army Knife of Mold Making and Electrodes. Their Cavity Core extraction is the best. I might even have some videos laying around somewhere.
