Solid To 2d

My Question Is How To Get A 2d Face From A Solid

Create curve all edges , in the general selection, click activate solid selecton, make sure solid face is depressed only, select the face on the solid and hit ok. you may want to change the color

Well if you have the solids option in V9 then use the solids for chaining and it will creat the 2d geo off the solid to pick.

Now its the same in VX and up but the diffrence is you do not have to have solids in VX and up as it will still see the solid face for you.

create - surface solid,face - click on face you want to make 2D make sure colour is different then you can move surface to a different level

hi guys
i tried the curve all edges just like steve says, and it works! , but....
the rsult its a little diferent , because i had edges now i have curves, so, the first problem to pick a 2d face from a solid its done, i get it, i move apart, but the geometry its diferent.
when i try to pick an entitie i can't , why?

Well lets start with you dont have a solid but a surface model so this works diffrent.

Now after looking at your file what is it that you want to be able to do?
Are you trying to 2d contour the letters out and need the letter profiles?

yes im triyng to get the letters profile to make a 2d contour whit it
so, next i gonna perform the cut whit a .012" flat end mill, whit a .008" depth.
all this in a max nc 30 desktop milling machine, so i apreciate all kind of help,
because i tried 4 times, and the results are not at 100% satisfactory, the verify option shows a perfect cut but, in the machining action, looks diferent
for example the las try, i get a very thin 'A' letter
