I'm not running a duel core AMD. (Athlon 64 3800+) and it works fine. I'm actually surprised how well it works with the other applications I run as well. Maybe one day I'll get a newer computer. I'd realyl like to see how well things run then. THe only noticalbe problems I ever have are with CAD software during analysis. Thats all CPU usage there. So I shouldn't expect it to be quick.

AMD always follow the lead of Intel. Get an Intel CPU chip and don't worry about it. Program developers base their software on the Intel chip. If MasterCAM does not work on the Intel chip - MasterCAM has a problem - not you.

We have always used AMD and nothing else. There have been no problems related to the CPU.

What is the Optimal Workstation that you would recommend for running MCX2? From Graghics Card, Processer(s), RAM?

Lets just say some people get a little restless waiting for a PC to calculate the neccessary tool paths for a large complex model say in the 250MB file range.

It's all relative to your budget.

#1 most important is to get an Nvidia Quadro FX card. (no, the Quadro NVS isn't any good).

Other than that buy the best components you can afford.

My current machine would be regarded as a solid mid-level machine I think. It has Asus motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+, 2GB memory, Quadro FX1400 PCI-E, Windows XP PRO, and I have no problems.

I program only up to 3 axis milling but use solids and the WCS extensively. My file sizes are usually in the 40MB range but I have had as large as 500MB.

If you are regularly in the 250MB range you may want to go a little higher than what I have especially with the video card.

There are some specs listed on Mastercam's website.

Thanks, I'll go there and look as well as the eMastercam Forum. It is always better to be a bit Higher than the Recommended.
