    MasterCam V9

I just signed up today with this sight so I'm not sure what I am doing yet. Here's a question that I was wandering if anyone out there now's if this can be done.

Is there anyway that you can create a variable and have the programmer screen pick an element in order to assign the value like the radius or location coordinates of the elment to the variable?

Up to now I have been creating questions in the post then the programmer would have to type in the values but thought something like this would make things simplier and more accurate.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, DANWEB

Yes, I can be done. Mastercam has macro record... you can record whatevery you want and play it. But It only working nice if you have family part.
The best way to learn is trial error.

Well if you just want to have your program output be dependent on the specific values of the part geometry, it's simple. In any box that requires input, right click the mouse and select the point/value, depending on what you need.

You can select the X, Y Z value of a point.
    Radius/Dia. of an arc
    Length of a line/arc
    Distance between points.

As for the Macro language.... I wouldn't put too much hope in that for V9. It has severe limitations.

Thanks for your responses. I forgot about Macros, I will give them a try. Not sure if this is what I am looking for but will see. Just to be a little more clearer I am mainly a post writer and I incorporated a outside macro that has around 20 variables and the values that I need for about 6 or 7 of these can come from the imported Geometry in MasterCam. Thanks for your input, I at least have another direction to look at. Thanks again!

Sounds like you are trying to Automatic tool paths using variables that you input from the geo, if correct this what ATP in mastercam was built for.

Most of the Major changes in V9 are at 9.1mr0304 release with the WCS & change on how it does the surface calcalation for the paths changed.
then just a bunch of little things like added free convertors for Autodesk files that use to be a paid add-on and the the Step converter.
