Default Mastercam X8 hanging up when backplotting

    Hi All,

I am starting to experience a problem with Mastercam X8 taking forever to backplot even the simplest of programs. It started happening after I spent some time doing some programming using some of the high speed tool paths that were very long and excepted to take a while to back plot. But now all my programs take a long time. I just back-plotted a simple 2D cutout and it took almost 5 minutes to backplot.

Are there any areas that can clog up and I need to purge to speed things up? I've never had this happen before and am not sure what the issue is as it was fine right before I was doing the complicated stuff yesterday.

    Any help is greatly appreciated,

    Dale

Video card error? maybe the ram is overloaded, I don't know for sure. I know I get a lot of graphical errors especially when verifying since I'm running on a computer with a low end videocard.
Are you saying it slogs and won't backplot or the tools aren't moving fast or what?

Want to share the file that is bogging down your system.

A couple of setting can make the system slow down -
    - setting a very fine accuracy for the displaying of screen entities, especially the solids & surfaces
    - stock model ( or STL model ) saved as a accurate model
    - in Backplot options, tool display set too fine

These are all display settings, & do NOT influence the NC code that is output
    - NC code accuracy is controlled by the "Tolerance / Filter" setting that is in each operation

    Dale,

Please share your computer specs. Graphic Card, Ram and even processor. most of the time, that's where you issue is when backploting or even opening the mastercam simulator. But please share the info to verify

so far, my X8 runs awesome. i have to slow the speed down so i can follow it. my criticism about the simulation , if i had one, is once you run a sim, and everything is ok, i wish they had a warning if anything went wrong. camworks for instance, will show a red area if your tool crossed any lines on your model, letting you know theres a minor, or even a major error. green toolpath means everything is perfect, yellow is within .002-.003 and red is .004 or more. BTW i have 10 gigs ram, 3.2 mhz cpu 2 gig video card 1.5 t hard drive

MCX8 does do this just use verify click on the verify tab then compare . You can even set your tolerances. This feature allows you to compare to your solid and different colors show any variations.

bobcad guy, there are options to have check against things like tool flute, shank and so on and have stop or do you ever look at the collision list on the right side tells you a lot right there.someone just needs to show what is there and what options are. I make the point of showing how much is there and what it does when teaching. I find these great tools for me when I am programming for my customers.

Now as for the question at hand. Are you using the classic Backplot were it does not open in a new window or are you using the updated one. this is an option. So far in X9 it is the default in the new. but the shipped version of X8 it was set for Classic.
I agree having the computer specs is helpful to.
