    Simply put a twist drill has 2 flutes . If it doesn`t then it isn`t a drill .

    But it causes feed rate to be calculated wrong.

    Besides, most taps have 3 flutes, but "Number of flutes" for them in tool library is set to 1.

    Feed is normally considered to be a lateral movement in x & y , drilling/tapping is z plunge as your feed. Taps are a single helix therefore 1 flute.

    What I really want to know is how you folks deal with feed rates being calculated wrong for drilling operation.

    My solution was to change all drills in tool library to 1 flute.

    Make sure the "materials" are setup correctly in MC. Alum has almost twice the speeds and feeds of steel..... and steel has almost twice the speeds and feeds of stainless.....
