    help with surface tool paths

    hey all,
not very familiar with the surface tool paths. would like some of you to take a look at this. it is a X4 file that was imported from customers cad data, i have put some tool paths on, but pretty sure i'm not going at it correctly.
if you could either put down your own tool paths so i can take a look at it and maybe learn something about this stuff.
not sure its needed but here is more info, part is urethane 90 shore, control is
    delta 20.
i used create surface from solid for first rough op, it may be blanked out.
    thanks in advance

Well I see the samething over and over waht should be a siple 2d part cut with surfaces . this is a 2d part and you do not need to make surfaces from it to tool path the part. even if you used the paths you did use the solid work great.

Review your part and look ant contour, facing for the area you are programming right now.

    hey cadcam,
the flat side with the counter bores is allredy done. i was planning to mount this on a flat plate and surface it with a ball nose and do all of this surface of the part in one set up.
i gave the 2d paths a shot, says chain it is not in construction plane.
    i apologize for my ignorance.
i dont want somebody to do my work for me. i just want to see how somebody more knowledgeable does it. i learn that way.
i don't like some of the moves it makes around the holes with the ballnose. can i make it just do it like a facing operation some how and ignore the holes?

    thank you for your time

    cadcam,
thanks much, i pretty much understand what you done, i guess my main thing is figuring out how, when and which tool paths to use on a part like this. most of my experience with mastercam has been straight out 2d stuff.
i got face it, time to learn new tricks. i still got ways to go before i get to park my tool boxes LOL
i'll no doubt get back to you on this

    tks

as promised, have one question about your op3, surface finish constant scallop.
i tried to replicate what you done, when i look at the geometry in the toolpath it says 4 (on yours), when i click show it appears to be (to me) just that top surface.
so when i'm doing it i select that top surface, geometry says 1, the tool kind of goes down and around the holes in that surface, which of course is not what i want.
so the question is what and how did you select it to get it the way you had it. i tried different things. i just want it to kind of face off that whole surface like you had??

    tks in advance
