    trim problem

the fillets look good until I zoom up close and I can see the mismatch. see attached file. it is easier to see the mismatch if you turn off the levels with wireframe geometry on them. please remove .zip extension and replace with version of mastercam x you have. these are not zipped files. i want to know how can i trim the fillets so a mismatch does not occur between the fillets and two narrow long surfaces on the front and rear of the part.

Still can't see your files. DXF would work for just geometry.

Check Z levels on end points.

the attached surfacing_problem_pre-X5.zip file should open in your X3 if you change .zip to the extension X3 uses. i don't remember what it is. if not i can save as iges and attach it.

An .MCX-5 file cannot be opened by an earlier version, even by changing the extension
The .MCX extension was used from X to X4. Where if an X4 file was opened by an earlier version, you would get the "file corrupt" error

If you are wanting to share just your geometry, it may be best to "Save as", and setting the options to output a version X file ( earliest X version possible for all to be able open. But V8 & V9 users would still not be able to open them )

NOTE,,,, this method does NOT allow toolpathing ops to go back to an earlier version due to some strategies, parameters, settings, etc. not existing in the earlier versions. There is NO method for toolpaths to be read in an earlier version

If you need help with toolpaths, anybody wishing to assist must have the same version level or later.

If I use Tx as an example.....he cannot open your X5 files at all, as he only has X3. Joe would have to download & install McamX3, create his session & save in that version for Tx to be able to assist.

Try bringing in a model, & then have Mastercam create the curves

Joe, where & how did you get the geometry ?
if it is created in another CAD package, or extracting from surfaces may be the reason.

PS, avoid using STL & IGES models if possible, I have found they also have trim problems when importing the wireframe
I try to use STEP files & have Mcam create the wireframe geometry from the solid shape

Creating curves from a solid is best, and any chaining will be easier. It avoids double ups of curves, ie each surface edge will create an entity,( so joining adjoining surfaces will have 2 curves) ( try using delete duplicates if you have to create curves from surfaces )

all geometry was created in mastercam. i started by using sphere and cone primitives. i can see where the radius's and the long front and back surfaces do not match when i zoom up. the surfaces on front and back were trimmed to curves i placed on the fillets. i do not understand why they do not trim properly. not only can i see this problem when i zoom up but i can not chain the top properly to put on a flat boundary surface.

So you saying that you set this and there are gaps? I see clean surfaces here.
that is what I was showing in the picture close up.
