This was broght over from the Router software side and was mainly for wood. The idea is to use more of the flute and make the tool last longer.
what kind of machining would benefit from the contour oscillate path? what kind of surface finish does it give you?

i have never cut any wood on a cnc or used a cnc router. does contour oscillate leave a good finish on wood or is it a roughing tool path and you have to go back with a standard contour tool path?
Pick it for a tool path option and watch what it does on verify or backplot.

Wood panel products are typically cut in a single pass. By oscillating the tool up and down, you use more of the tool and get longer life. the finish is no different than if the Z height remained constant.
