Mastercam Art

hello all

i like mastercam, but.
I bought art hoping for a progam that would convert a .jpg/etc. to vector for programming . boy was that a mistake. the conversion program in art sucks

some of the shareware progs off the net do a better job.
im kinda disappointed in mastercam for this lame addon.
anybody else?

Don't know if I'd say the Art conversions in MasterCam suck, rather, it has a steep learning curve. I feel that once I became more familiar with the add on, there was/is a lot more tools/options in MasterCam than any of the shareware converters I have found.

I had the same problem and belive it or not the best software for that is bobart. LOL

The best way to deal with jpg to vector conversions is to use graphic art program such as Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator then save file in format you prefer. That's what these programs were made for so they work the best.

I dont believe any auto trace program works very well. Mastercam art works pretty good if you are creating solids. If you want to create a sign from a drawing it works pretty good, its not easy ! If you need some thing converted to a vector use adobe illustrator or contact eric at www.thevectordoctor.com He does the best work !

Did you all ready have Mastercam and added Art or did you just buy Mastercam ART?
What kind of issues are you having and has your dealer given you any support for it?

Yes, i already had mastercam, added art it was the only thing i had not added on to the mill package

if you got just for converting and not for the hole art coining and more you could just stayed with using the Raster to Vector that comes with mill. Just a thought.
