Use different layers. Put your supporting geometry on layers that you can turn off when you do not want to see them. No reason to delete them. You can also use Hide and Unhide. I dislike using Hide and Unhide because sometimes it is a pain to get the things unhidden that you want unhidden.

hide and unhide don't save with the file so I use blank and unblank which do save with the file. i notice when working with solids that i have to use ram saver otherwise i get big delays. why is ram saver needed? have never seen a ram saver in other applications.

    From the MasterCam Help file:

The Ram Saver option (on the Settings menu) speeds system operation by freeing memory (RAM). It does this by:

removing all deleted entities from the current part database

removing (if requested) all duplicate entities from the current part database

regenerating the display list to speed graphic display.

    After Ram Saver runs, it:

tells you if the database has changed

displays the amount the database decreased

asks if you want to save the changed database

If you choose to save the database, you can keep the current name, which overwrites the original file. You can also save the file with a new name.

Important: You cannot restore entities Ram Saver has deleted.

I am not sure why you have to use Ramsaver as I think over the last 20 years I have used this option 2 times. I make 90% of my models in MC and 90% of them are solids if not more. if you are worried about the associated geo with the solid use NoHist.dll chook.
    What version are you using?
(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)
