    Tool Plunging on Prototrak

I am now having an issue with the way the cutter approaches the part. The Z comes down at full speed to the top of the part then backs up and feeds down at the feedrate programmed to. The real strange thing is it only does it on the first tool. Below is a chopped down version of my program with only the first few moves of each tool. What am I missing that could cause the tool to rapid down to Z-zero then backup and start feeding.

    Clearance and Retract

in mastercam there is a setting for clearance and retract. perhaps you have it not set. also absolute and incremental can be confusing. i prefer keeping everything in absolute. picture attached
    .
also your post processor may need editing. it is best to stay in absolute for X,Y,Y and only arc I,J is incremental or at least that works best for me

I do not know ProtoTrak syntax. For Fanuc you would need G43 and Hx for tool length offset on the first Z move after a tool change.
