Best way to optimize my program

    Hi,

When doing multiple works offset fixtures, when program is completed, what is the best way to optimize it, I mean to save time for tool change by going from G54 to G55 and G56.

ex: If I have a 1/2 end mill in the spindle, I want to do all toolpaths that use this tool for the G54, G55, G56.

Can I use the toolpath translate function to do that.

    Thanks, Jeff

Just put the tools in order in your toolpath tree. (iow don't have all of G54 first, then G55, etc, - go by the tool - so have all of the 1/2" endmill toolpaths first, then the next tool, etc.) I'd only pay attention to the work offsets at the next level - within a tool's group, so it doesn't take the 1/2" endmill and cut a feature on G54, then G56, then back to G54, etc...(unless it makes sense to do it that way)

Highlight all of the operations in the operations manager, right click, then click on sort, then sort by tool number.

I may have misread it. I thought he was simply doing multiple operations on a part (G54 1ST SIDE, G55 SECOND SIDE, ETC)...but if you are doing the same operation over and over...then yes, toolpath translate.

Thanks, I will see what I can do with this.

    Thanks also to WallyL7.
