So we have the latest Mastercam, guess I should know the version, but I don't really care I get a call saying the machine didn't start the spindle and tried to broach a tap through the material. Mind you this is a 1 year old Mori Seiki with only prototyping work on it. Well, found out the post put something like 62 inches per rev! Well, found out it has something to do with calling metric taps. Works fine in inch, and also works fine if you do your own conversion in metric. How could Mastercam allow such a simple error to continue? Anyone else run in to this? A call to Mastercam was kinda like oh ya, sorry. Not a good answer after 100k in licenses.
Well, from a few PM's i got, this is a common glitch with newer versions of Mastercam. It has to do with programming in inch, then selecting a metric tap. We now have a work around, even though I don't think it should have that problem to begin with.
Interesting. I have always been on the latest version and program inch to metric taps quite often and have never seen it.
But, such is life when you are born under the rainbow...
(strange that you got pm's but nobody replied...)
I think they are afraid of getting banned or something. There was a big stink up a while back about a Mastercam admin. and some unhappy people. I certainly don't want to get in the middle of that, I just wanted to see if there was a solution.
