Mastercam 9.1 Undercut/negative taper

Hello!


I apologies if i'm using incorrect lingo! I need to cut this cavity. It has a .090 taper (.045 per side)


I created a surface for the walls but mastercam jumps all over the place. I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions!!

Program the paths for :-
pocketing - by using the top geometry & 2D Contour, 5/8" cutter with 0.04" corner radius ( the taper is on the tool ), set it to ramp using 2D contour,

Taper - use same form tool, select the same top circle geomerty, set contour type to 2D Contour, arc in & out....job done

PS ...Mastercam doesn't like using surfaces for simple 2D operations, especially undercuts ( you have to turn OFF gouge checking and use lollipop cutters )

you can use a arbor style key cutter with ether flowline or surface contour for this.
or even a bell style dove tail. I would put the bottom radi on it. and you will need to use the Direction options along with unchecking the option superman stated.
