    Surface question

Hello all, I made a bogus 3d surface part on Pro-E. This is my first attempt at this and I don't know what I am doing wrong to create a tool path. First off, I saved the part as a .stp file, and surfaces. When I brought it into Mastercam X5, the planes and the origin are not correct. I want to be able to rough it with a 3/8 ball end mill. Will someone please look at it, and let me know the sequence in order for orientation, and tool path. I can do 2D stuff no problem, but this surface stuff is all new to me. Any pointers about bringing .stp files into X5 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

use xform rotate to rotate part into position. xform translate to move to origins. toolpaths surface rough to generate a roughing pass I would use surface finish blend for your finish pass. I would create a wire frame around the surfaces so you can grab them and move them around use creat curve all edges select all surfaces

Newbie Surface question - answer in 3 steps

never rotate your part unless it is called for. create and rotate new wcs as needed. see attachment for steps.

I'm not sure if this is of any use to you as I can't answer the Mastercam import question as I don't use Mastercam, but I did open your stp file in Rhino 4.0 with no difficulties.
You've probally done this already but just check the original drawings X,Y&Z cordinates. Apart from altering your WCS in the MOP setup I had no difficulty creating toolpaths in RhinoCAM.

To answer your question have a look in Mastercam for the option to align part to box stock and to align wcs too........
