PC to Machine communications

Happy Sunday All

Quick question, how do you configure the port so that you can up and download programs from the PC and Controller. We have a Fanuc 10TE-F controller on a Hitachi Hitec Turn lathe. I have tried various settings and still no luck. When I try to send a program I get the sending message with the time that it has taken to send it and when I look on the machine control, it still flashes READING. What am I doing wrong? I have never had this issue before. Tha parameters in the control are set fine as per the help of one of the cnczone members. Thanks in advance
