Restmill violated surface

I roughed the inside of a long "v" shaped part with a 3 in shell mill and tried restmill to finish the rough. The restmill only cut around the peremeter of the cut and did not finish the rest of the pocket. Since it was only finishing the difference of the 3" cutter I did not sweat it too much, and the verify looked good too. I ran it and kt violated the surface, I was there to stop it so it was minimal damage and can be welded. The time saved with the 3" cutter was significant so I would like to make this work. Any ideas?

Use backplot to check if the tool violates the surface while playing with settings. Double check your chains/surfaces and stock to leave etc..

I see nothing when I do that. I wonder if it could be the post?

how much extra does it cut into the surface?

It started to really gouge in, I got her shut down before it went more than a couple hundred thou. It is programed to leave .020 for finish. It also only cuts around the outside of the pocket that is leftover. I have never restmilled before, the post has always done as it should with everything else I have done, we have been using this combo for at least 4 or maybe 5 years. I dont know.

Are you manually entering the diameter of the previous tool? try posting it again and running it above the part to see if you get the same movements. Maybe it finished rest milling and moved on to another operation somewhere else without retracting?
