text toolpaths

I am having trouble cutting text.
I always get a "open chains are ignored" while trying to make toolpaths on text.
I was told that you cannot use 'engrave' on open chains... so what should I do?
I appreciate any help

Partial chains in a single operation. I use contour.

When I choose contour toolpath, it offsets instead of following the centerline of the text.

I just tried using pocket, then selecting partial, and manually selected all lines in the text to be cut... but now im getting error "warning - not all boundaries are closed. Select open pockets or close chains", then "toolpath generation failed". I believe I should choose open pockets, but cant find that option.
Can you point me to it?

On contour, if your cutter was to follow the centerline of the text, then the letter would be 1/2 the diameter of the cutter smaller or larger then your object. Pocket would offset the cutter inside the text and take all material within boundaries.

In the operation manager, turn the cutter comp. off, and it will folllow the line.

use the contour tool path and window the text in the chain selection menu. chain selection should be set to 3D. follow instructions on screen. set tool compensation to off. for the tool to cut to the centerline
